A close look at the metrics of Urban Gospel radio and digital consumption is encouraging. However, the healthy Gospel music consumption is not necessarily translating to radio station and revenue growth for our genre. We appear to have been shrinking in the number of Urban Gospel radio outlet for some time.

So, with that said… How is it that we are one of the fastest growing formats as far as consumption but are at risk in part because of anemic revenue generation.

HOW CAN WE MAKE HITS THAT LISTENERS DOWNLOAD AND FINANCIALLY SUPPORT THOUGH EVENTS ETC?

 

Christian music, particularly Black Gospel and Contemporary Christian Music (CCM), continues to thrive across multiple platforms, including terrestrial radio, online streaming, and mobile applications. Both genres have unique audience demographics and consumption patterns.

  1. Overall Christian/Gospel Music Consumption
  • 54 million U.S. adults listen to Christian and Gospel music multiple times per week(Rapzilla, 2024)
  • Christian/Gospel is the fourth-fastest-growing genre in the U.S., with an 8.9% increase in overall consumption (compared to a 3.9% industry average). (Luminate, 2024)
